All About Resin!

What is resin?

Epoxy Resin is known for its strong adhesive qualities, which makes it a versatile product in many industries. It is also heat resistant which makes it a durable product which can be used with various materials including wood, glass, china, metal and fabric. Epoxy Resin is not considered to be water resistant.  Submerging resin and constantly washing will cause deterioration over time which will affect its durability.

Epoxy Resin has many purposes such as being used as an adhesive, used in electronics and electrical systems, painting, sealing and coating, repairs and of course artwork!

Over the years, I have used many brands of epoxy resin and have finally settled on one that has very low odour, no VOC’s, anti-yellowing properties, gives crystal clear results, absorbs pigments well and is self-levelling.

When mixing the resin with the hardener it is important to be spot on with the ratios (1:1) otherwise it can cause problems with the resin curing.

What would you like to make?  A charcuterie/Chopping board, coasters, bookmark and keyrings, or a set of 4 coasters or jewellery?  Perhaps you have something at home you wish to resin? All PPE is provided as well as tea/coffee/squash also a sweet treat of your choice. Will it be Victoria Sponge or join the great donut debate… jam or custard?!

Why not bring a friend to share the experience?  It can be quite competitive!

This is such a great experience to share especially if you are having a big birthday celebration, an anniversary or even a hen do!

Crafting is fun!...

Everything is supplied at the experience with Sue’Sea Arts, all you have to bring is you!

I do highly recommend wearing old (and warm in the winter months) clothes as resin can be messy! Having hair tied back is also recommended.

Sue’Sea Arts provides all the PPE including, goggles, masks, aprons, gloves and wet wipes!

Doing a Resin Experience is not only fun but very therapeutic, also, it can be quite competitive amongst friends and partners!  It is also very addictive! Customers always come back for more.

Whilst working with resin, one of the things that I find so fun is the fact that resin does its own thing, it doesn't always stay where you put it, it finds its own place to settle creating its own masterpiece!
